I’m a school administrator. In my classes for licensure we were taught: what gets monitored, gets done. Sounds like the same principle. Yes, you want to afford adults the respect of trust, but it’s common sense to check in to be sure things are running smoothly. As a citizen, what I’m guilty of? Thinking that, “surely there is someone else who has done the monitoring.”
Trust but verify. The mantra of every corporation that is successful. Audit and business controls are key weapons to counter fraud.
This is excellent advice. Suggest everyone use Chatgpt to review your town/city budget and other documents that you can get access to. Chatgpt has very good financial analysis tools. Typically you can just upload the documents and the system will take it from there.
Great piece. I'm in Canada. Despite our holier-than-thou attitudes (now somewhat justifified since we didn't elect a con man and clown show as, um, some people did), my country needs to severely clip the wings of influence peddlers ("poltical strategists" whose real income comes from lobbying), rebuild local political organizations at the electoral district level, and give people a good reason to become involved. That means allowing policy ideas to flow up the chain and explanation/accountability to flow down.

Thanks for the post. 👍🏼
That is the trap. We all assume someone else will do it!
Maybe that’s what they want us to think. Being a citizen has responsibilities and it’s time to take pride in our communities again!
I’m taking the step and I hope others do too.

I second this. It is a good tool. Always double check it and have it check itself but if used correct it is exceptional
